How Australian fire fighters quickly reduce the effects of heat stress!
As the bushfire fight continues, the importance for fire fighters to reduce core body temperature in order to combat heat stress is vital. ABC news reported yesterday that a fire fighter collapsed after suffering from severe heat stroke. The Australian designed and patented hand and forearm water immersion product called the Arm Core Cooler Harness, cools core body temperature rapidly to combat heat stress. The product won the 2014 Fire Awareness Award. Studies have found that forearm immersion in temperate water is more effective in lowering core body temperature than passive cooling, mist sprays or cooling vests.
The novel, low cost and portable cooling product is becoming an essential part of the gear used by numerous fire and rescue services to speed up recovery. Click here for more product information.
