Have you ever wondered why black is not a popular Security Seal colour? Monday 20 February 2017 @ 09:24
Polypropylene being a thermoplastic polymer is the preferred material to use when manufacturing plastic seals. This is due to the material warping and burning easily when heated compared to other plastics such as Nylon. If an effort is made to tamper with the polypropylene security seal and reattach two parts via a heating technique the tampering would be clearly noticeable. The example photographed below shows the blue S Grip Security Seal revealing tampering. The material's colour changes to black when heated. The colour change would have not been noticeable had the seal colour been black.
Security Seal Recommendations
Harcor plastic security seals are serial numbered. These serial numbers serve as a unique identifier. Harcor recommends having a procedure in place to record the numbers prior to use and removal. Security seals should be stored in a secure location. All security seals should be inspected for tampering before removal. A comparison should always be made against a known genuine seal. You can view the range of Harcor’s Security Seals here or contact us now to discuss how we can assist you.

Learn about the first security seal stamping operation in Australia. Friday 08 July 2016 @ 15:19
Harcor run a dedicated security seal printing service in Australia! It is the first, and to Harcor’s knowledge, the only dedicated security seal stamping operation in the country. The security seal printing offered by Harcor includes both thermal transfer and hot foil stamping.
To get a better insight into the security seal printing process, I asked Harcor’s Stamping Manager, Adam Glass a few questions:
What is the difference between thermal transfer and hot foil stamping?
Thermal transfer is the process of using pre-printed thermal tape to print on security seals whereas hot foil printing requires a physical die to stamp artwork or numbering onto a security seal.
What are the advantages of the different printing methods?
Thermal transfer can be used for very detailed artwork when required. Due to the set up time required for thermal transfer, hot foil stamping is a better suited option for lower volume security seal printing.
As a security seal''s print area is limited and precision is critical, what part of the print process do you believe is most challenging and why?
The initial setup for a thermal transfer security seal printing is the most critical, due to having to ensure the digital formatting is correct. The transfer tape is tested prior to running the job.
From the security seals that you have been asked to print, which stands out the most and why?
A security seal that I printed for one of Australia’s largest courier companies required a large sequential alpha character positioned to the left of the logo, barcode and matching number. This was a very different format to any security seal that Harcor had printed before.
The integrity and accuracy of security seal serial numbering is crucial, what system does Harcor have in place to avoid errors?
Harcor’s custom Exact & Track software provides serial number tracking that integrates essential number duplication safeguards. In addition Harcor has a three check processes. The first is automatically done as it is an inherit check in the print formatting software. The other safeguards include physical labels applied to transfer tape spools and then recorded in serial number ledgers. The information collected allows Harcor to associate the stamping machine used to the serial number printed.
The standard colours that can be printed on security seals due to the printing foil tapes that Harcor carry in stock are black and white for thermal transfer printing, and black, white, blue, green, yellow and red for hot foil stamping.
If you are looking to have security seals stamped with logo, barcodes or something out of the ordinary, contact Harcor for assistance and professional advice.
HARCOR is providing the latest wireless electronic keying system for the world’s first deployment of the ASSA ABLOY product. Friday 03 June 2016 @ 12:15
The electronic keying system is called eCLIQ. Harcor is the local distributor for this innovative product. Having gained overwhelmingly positive feedback from their aviation industry client, Harcor has been catapulted into focusing on building increased awareness for eCLIQ.
eCLIQ was in development stage as Harcor, in conjunction with ASSA ABLOY, were working on providing an electronic keying solution to one of Australia’s largest aviation businesses. This resulted in the fast tracking of this product to Australia prior to its worldwide release!
Having ASSA ABLOY’s latest system being adopted first in Australia, continues to show that when it comes to companies migrating to technology that offers improved efficiencies, Australia are not afraid to lead the way.
What makes eCLIQ a fantastic product is that it offers an electronic access system without the need for wiring that can retrofit into current doors and locks. One of the many advantages of this is the reduced cost of installation and the ability to provide seamless access control in remote locations. The product also offers the type of features you would expect from the latest technology such as programmable access rights, time scheduling, audit trails, blocking of lost keys and more. What might come as a pleasant surprise to clients is that it's also a cost effective solution.
